Krupp Foundation presents contemporary design
Coming soon
The exhibition MAKING SENSE OF THINGS, from 30 April to 15 August 2027 at Villa Hügel in Essen, brings together works from the 1980s Italian Memphis design movement with pieces by eight contemporary designers of international renown.
At the historic Villa Hügel, these voices engage in a multi-layered dialogue on fundamental questions concerning authorship, attitude, meaning and the role of design. They create a space where past and present converge – and where design can be re-examined as a form of cultural practice.
On display are well-known and lesser-known objects by Martine Bedin, Michele De Lucchi, Ettore Sottsass, George J. Sowden, Masanori Umeda and Marco Zanini, as well as by Formafantasma, Konstantin Grcic, Chris Kabel, Jonathan Muecke, Muller Van Severen, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Julie Richoz and Mats Theselius.
Look forward to an extraordinary design exhibition.
